Prince George's County Free Seed Library

Mission Statement: The Prince George's County Free Seed Library aims to provide open access to a diverse collection of seeds and the information our community needs to grow, save, and share them.

Planting the Seeds of Change

In May 2024, I launched the Prince George's County Free Seed Library with a vision to empower our community through access to free seeds, fostering food sovereignty, and promoting sustainable gardening practices. The seed library was born out of a desire to reconnect people with the origins of their food and to build a resilient, self-sustaining local food system. By offering free seeds and educational resources, we aim to make gardening accessible to everyone, regardless of experience or economic background.

My Roles

As the founder and creator of the Prince George's County Free Seed Library, I took on the responsibility of turning an idea born out of a college course into a thriving community resource. My role involved:

My passion for seed libraries extended beyond PG County, leading me to become actively involved in the Seed Library Network. I was drawn to their mission of promoting seed sharing and biodiversity on a global scale. I contributed to writing their mission statement, created engaging social media content, and now serve as the editor of their Cool Beans! Newsletter. This role has allowed me to connect with a worldwide community of seed savers and advocates, further fueling my dedication to the cause.
